Egyptian Day 2018

We all had a lovely day, dressing up, on Wednesday on our Egyptian Day. The children took part in different activities from bread making to creating Egyptian collars to tasting some Egyptian food including dates, grapes, and pomegranate seeds. The children worked as a group to weigh out the ingredients to make bread. They mixed, kneaded and later formed a flat shape with the dough and everyone said it tasted really nice.

Mummy and Sarcophagus Making

Generic Teacher (Teacher blog) on: Mulberry Class 2018-19

We had great fun making mummies and sarcophagus boxes for them to live in. We used them as a basis for our Instruction Writing in Literacy so if you would like to know how to make one - we are the experts!

Magnetic Science

Generic Teacher (Teacher blog) on: Mulberry Class 2018-19

We had a great time investigating if magnets would work through a range of materials and liquids and we enjoyed trying to make the magnet in the pyramid move without touching it.

We started to plan the activities for our Science Fair where we will share our knowledge with children from a different class.

Archaeology dig

Generic Teacher (Teacher blog) on: Mulberry Class 2018-19

We found out that one way that we know more about the past is from artefacts, that have been found. These artefacts are often then displayed in museums. An archaeologist is someone who digs for things, and may find objects, that give us clues as to how people lived in the past.

We made a list of the qualities you would need to have to be a good archaeologist, such as being able to work carefully, being part of a team, taking notes and being gentle with what you discover.

The class then became archaeologists themselves. What did you discover?

Planetarium

Generic Teacher (Teacher blog) on: Mulberry Class 2018-19

A few weeks ago, we were lucky enough to all experience the night sky and solar system in a planetarium. We loved the experience and followed it up with some space themed activities.
